５，６０年前、今籠町の大音寺と大光寺の境にある深い溝（大溝）に狐の老夫婦がいた。善狐で、住職に恩を受けたので、寺の周囲を夜回りした。拍子木の音が瓦を打ち鳴らすようににも、竹筒を叩くようにも聞えた。その音を聞くと、「狐の拍子木だ」と言って、火の元の注意をした。
