The Yakushi statue is 久遠実成無作本仏 クオンジツジョウムサノホンブツ Kuonjitsujou Sano Honbutsu
The main statue is 千手観音 Senju Kannon.
The temple was founded around 1634 by 豪瞬阿闍梨 Priest Goshun Ajari.
It was built on request of the Lord of Nabeshima Han, 勝茂 Katsushige,
on the kimon鬼門 Demon Gate side of 佐賀城 the Saga Castle,
in the hamlet 神埼郡岩田の庄 Iwata no Sho at 神埼郡 Kanzaki district.
In the Edo period, it was also used as 佐賀城鬼門除け鎮城祈祷所
a prayer place for the safety of the castle.
In the late Meiji period (1868 - 1912) 浄光和尚 Priest Joko saw 千手観世音菩薩 a Kannon with 1000 arms in his dream,
and decided to relocate the temple to 基肄山 the area of Mount Kiiyama.
Near Mount Kiiyama is Fudo no Taki不動の滝 a waterfall for Fudo Myo-O with a large stone statue of Fudo Myo-O.
Nearby is oku no in奥の院 a hall for the mountain priests.
Every month on the 25th day there is 不動秘密護摩供 a special fire ritual for Fudo Myo-O.
In front of the temple gate is the 長崎街道 Nagasaki Kaido Highway.
