The founding of this temple is not clear, maybe around 1400, on request of Emperor 後小松天皇 Gokomatsu Tenno (1377 - 1433).
The main statue is 身代不動明王 Migawari Fudo, said to be carved by Kobo Daishi.
Related to the shrine 愛宕神社 Atago Jinja.
In 1614, priest 宥俊和尚 came from Hitachi and founded a temple at 愛宕町 Atago village in Edo (愛宕下 Atago no shita).
The temple was close to 徳川家康 Tokugawa Ieyasu, who offered a statue of 将軍地蔵尊 Shogun Jizo for the Inner Sanctuary.
At that time the pirest was 宥俊和尚 priest Yushun.
In 1889 a statue of 高尾山飯綱不動明王 Iizuna Fudo Myo-O was offered from Takaozan.

This was the name for a low-lying area from present day Minato Ward Shinbashi to Nishi Shinbashi, sandwiched between the east side of 愛宕山 Mt. Atago and the Tokaido Highway.
There were a large number of Daimyo (feudal lords) residences, including the residence of Tamura Takeaki (Ukyo Dayu) the first head of the Ichinoseki Clan who carried out the seppuku of Ako Clan head Asano Naganori (Takumi no Kami) who perpetrated the incident of the attack within Edo Castle which resulted in series of events involving the 47 Ronin, as well as the residence of Toyama Kagemoto famous from the novel 遠山の金さん "Toyama no Kin san".

This temple was founded in 1575 by 祐賢法印 priest Sukekata.
The main statue is 大日如来 Dainichi Nyorai.
The temple was first founded in 1611 in 麹町9丁目横町 Kojimachi and moved to its present location in 1634.
Since it was added to the Gofunai pilgrimage, a 門前町屋 Monzenmachi "pilgirms town" thrives.
当門前町屋起立の儀は同寺麹町9丁目より寛永11年当所へ替地被下置境内惣坪数1934坪半有之候内160坪門前町屋相建申度旨元文5年正月中大岡越前守様奉願候処年月不知10ヶ年季町家御免被仰付其後年代不知町御奉行御支配に相成右年明けの度に奉願候

"Tofu guardian deity of children" stands on the House of Aizome and the right of entrance of the facing each other Shingon Buddhism, Tofuku-in Temple. It is guardian deity of children of stone of 107 centimeters of overall height. There is the following tradition in origin of the name of tofu guardian deity of children.

There was tofu maker with his heart wicked near by in old days. There was Buddhist priest coming to buy tofu, but this becomes leaf of Japanese star anise every night on the next morning when tofu maker puts the price in the bamboo tube. By the way, we thought that fox or raccoon dog changed itself into Buddhist priest and would go into mischief and have cut a hand for punishment. When tofu maker pursues bloodstain, we enter the gate of Tofuku-in Temple and follow to this guardian deity of children. Tofu maker knows that real identity of Buddhist priest is guardian deity of children and is sorry and is that then we replace heart and did honest business.
